The sculpture is created using a cold-casting technique. "Cold-Casting" is a term used to describe the process of mixing metal powder with a resin to create castings that give the appearance of solid metal. The metal cold-cast process is faster and much less expensive compared with foundry casting of molten metal (lost wax process.) Actual copper, bronze or aluminum metal is used in the casting and the sculpture is antiqued with a black wax.

How Your Sculpture Is Made
Each sculpture begins as an original clay piece, hand-sculpted in my studio.
From that original, I create a mold and cast each piece using real metal powder—such as copper, bronze, or aluminum—mixed with resin (this is called cold casting). Every sculpture is then carefully finished, buffed, and waxed by hand to bring out the natural metallic surface.
Because of this process, your sculpture has the look and feel of metal while remaining lighter and more practical for display and shipping.
