Figure Sculpting Studio

Learn to sculpt the human figure in a relaxed, supportive studio environment with sculptor Elizabeth Bonura.

These weekly drop-in sessions are designed for beginners as well as artists who want dedicated time to practice figure sculpting. Rather than committing to a multi-week course, you can attend individual sessions and work at your own pace. Come for one session to explore figure sculpting or return regularly to continue developing your sculpture and your skills.

What You’ll Learn

Using a 3D figure model as a reference, Elizabeth will guide you through the fundamentals of sculpting the human form, including:

  • Blocking out the basic forms of the figure
  • Understanding proportion and anatomy
  • Capturing gesture and pose
  • Learning to see the body as a series of three-dimensional shapes
  • Building and refining forms in clay
  • Using sculpting tools to create details and texture

Each student works at their own pace. A sculpture will typically take several sessions to complete, but there is no required number of sessions.

3D References & Live Models

Most sessions will use a 3D figure model as a reference, allowing you to study the figure from multiple angles and work at your own pace. From time to time, a live model may also be available, giving students the opportunity to experience sculpting directly from life.

Live models are not guaranteed for every session and will be announced when available.

All experience levels are welcome. No previous figure sculpting experience is required.
