As a proud resident of Hutto, Texas, I am thrilled to share a momentous highlight of my journey as an artist. Recently, I had the distinct honor of receiving a resolution from the State of Texas House of Representatives for my contributions to the cultural vitality of the Georgetown community and beyond. This recognition symbolizes not just a personal achievement, but a testament to the power of art in connecting and enriching communities.
The resolution was passed during the 3rd Called Session of the 88th Texas Legislature, acknowledging my efforts in bringing artistic vibrancy to the area. It's a surreal feeling to have my work recognized at such a prestigious level, and I am deeply humbled by this acknowledgment.
The crowning glory of this journey was winning first place in the 2023-2024 Annual Georgetown Sculpture Tour. My sculpture, titled "Babywearing Family," resonated with many and garnered widespread appreciation. This piece, close to my heart, symbolizes the beauty and strength of familial bonds, a theme that has always inspired my work. It was directly inspired by my own experiences as a mother. When my three boys were young, I was always wearing one of them, a beautiful and intimate experience that profoundly influenced my art.
Receiving the official copies of the resolution was a moment I'll cherish forever. State Representative Caroline Harris, representing District 52, presented them to me. Her words of appreciation and support for local artists like myself were incredibly encouraging.
This recognition goes beyond just an accolade for a single piece of art. It represents the importance of art in creating a vibrant, connected community. It's a reminder of how art can transcend boundaries, speak a universal language, and bring people together.
As I reflect on this milestone, I am filled with gratitude. I am thankful to the Texas House of Representatives, Representative Caroline Harris, and everyone in the Georgetown community who has supported my artistic journey. This achievement fuels my passion further, inspiring me to continue creating art that resonates, connects, and contributes to the cultural fabric of our society.
To my fellow artists, this recognition is a reminder of the impact we can make through our work. Let's continue to create, inspire, and enrich our communities with our artistic expressions. Here's to more art, more connections, and more vibrant communities!
In closing, I extend my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has been a part of this journey. Your support and appreciation for my art mean the world to me. Together, let's continue to celebrate and promote the arts in Texas and beyond.
